Situational update on mass border crossing in Ceuta as of Sunday (02 August)

As per reports, the Government Delegation in Ceuta has confirmed that the death toll from recent mass border crossing attempts into the enclave has risen to 72 as of Sunday (02 August).

• Most individuals who crossed the border barrier have voluntarily returned to Morocco within 48 hours, leaving only small groups remaining in the city.
• Spanish police and military troops have maintained heavy street patrols across the enclave, establishing security posts and deploying armoured vehicles near key infrastructure and housing areas.
• Maritime rescue units and naval personnel are operating inflatable boats to scour coastal waters around the border barrier, where a newly installed 500-metre floating boom has been deployed to reinforce security.
• The affected areas include the Tarajal beach border area, the port of Ceuta, disused industrial areas near the border, and surrounding central streets in the enclave of Ceuta.
