As per reports, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of central, south central and eastern Kansas until 2100 hours (local time) on Saturday (06 April).
• The watch covers the counties of Butler, Chase, Clay, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Greenwood, Harvey, Lincoln, Lyon, Marshall, Morris, Ottawa, Republic, and Washington among others.
• A second severe thunderstorm watch is in effect in parts of Kansas until 2000 hours (local time) Saturday (06 April). The counties covered under the watch include Jewell, Mitchell, Osborne, Phillips, and Smith.
• A high wind warning has also been issued for south central Kansas until 2000 hours (local time) Saturday (06 April). This covers counties such as Dickinson, Morris, Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic, Washington, among others. South winds between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are predicted.
• The NWS has issued another severe thunderstorm watch for portions of Nebraska until 2100 hours on Saturday (06 April). The watch covers the counties of Butler, Gage, Jefferson, Lancaster, Saline and Seward.
• There is a possibility of severe storms with large hail and damaging winds in the warned areas, as thunderstorms are expected to develop in the afternoon hours across central Kansas.
• Additionally, dry and windy conditions are expected to create a fire danger for western and central Kansas on Saturday (06 April).
• Governor of Kansas Laura Kelly issued a state of disaster emergency proclamation to mobilize state resources and make preparations to help in the event of wildfires.
