The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 1900 hours (local time) on Friday (17 October) for Eastern and Northern New South Wales (NSW).
• BoM issued a severe thunderstorm warning for large hailstones and damaging winds. A warm, moist air mass interacting with a surface trough is generating intense thunderstorms across the eastern and northern parts of NSW.
• The storms are moving northeast and are forecast to persist through the day on Friday (17 October) as a southerly wind change advances northward across the coastal regions.
• Affected areas include:
• Hunter Region, Mid North Coast, parts of Sydney, Central Tablelands, and parts of Northwest Slopes, Central West Slopes, and Upper Western NSW.
