As per reports, independent Australian Member of Parliament (MP) Helen Haines sustained critical injuries after being struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser outside her electorate office on Murphy Street, Wangaratta, at approximately 1535 hours (local time) on Monday (19 October).
• A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and police recovered a knife from the vehicle. Counter-terrorism police are assisting with the investigation; the motive remains unknown.
