As per reports, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is set to address a campaign rally in Jalandhar on Friday (24 May), for which the following security arrangements have been made:
• A helipad is being set up for the PM’s arrival at the PAP Grounds, which will also serve as the venue of the rally in which over 50,000 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and supporters are expected to assemble.
• Over 2,000 police personnel will be deputed to host the event in the district. Officials have said the number of personnel might be increased subject to live threat assessments.
• While one central paramilitary company, and two Gujarat State paramilitary companies have already arrived to Jalandhar as of Tuesday (21 May), a total of nine companies and special anti-sabotage teams will be deployed across the Jalandhar district by Friday (24 May).
• As of Tuesday (21 May), both Jalandhar Urban and Rural have also been declared as no-drone zones. An official order for the same is awaited.
