As per reports, amid the call of Hindu organizations to stage a protest in Shimla from 1100 hours against the alleged illegal construction of the Sanjauli mosque on Wednesday (11 September), Shimla Police have invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the area from Nav Bahar Chowk to Eastern Portal of Dhuli Tunnel, IGMC to Sanjauli Chowk, Sanjauli Chowk to Chalonthi, Dhali from 0700 hours to 1159 hours.

While the protestors have claimed to hold peaceful protests, heightened police deployment has taken place as a precautionary measure. Over 1000 police personnel have been deployed along with Quick Response Team (QRT). All entry points to the city have been barricaded.
