As per reports, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police have issued an order enforcing restrictions under CrPC section 144 in Noida and Greater Noida until 26 April 2024, coinciding with the Lok Sabha election day in Noida. The police stated that these measures are prompted by upcoming festivals such as Chaitra Nav Ratri, Eid, Ambedkar Jayanti, Ramnavmi, as well as planned protests and the scheduled Lok Sabha election during this period.
• The order prohibits unlawful assembly of five or more people, unauthorised processions or demonstrations, including political or religious ones.
• It also restricts the use of private drones within a one km radius of government establishments and prohibits carrying sticks, rods, tridents, swords, and firearms in public places.
• All types of religious processions will be completely prohibited in public places and public routes. In unavoidable circumstances, permission will have to be obtained from the Police Commissioner, the Additional Commissioner of Police, or the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the concerned zone.
• Furthermore, it emphasizes that no person should engage in religious activities at disputed sites where the practice is not prevalent. Moreover, individuals are prohibited from insulting any religious scriptures or displaying religious flags, banners, or posters on religious places or walls.
