Seaplane crash reported near Rottnest Island on Tuesday (07 January)

As per reports, a Cessna 208 Caravan seaplane operated by Swan River Seaplanes crashed during takeoff near Rottnest Island, Western Australia on Tuesday (07 January). The incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals a 65-year-old Swiss woman, a 60-year-old Danish man, and the 34-year-old Australian pilot from Perth. Three other passengers sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in Perth; one passenger escaped without injury.

Preliminary reports suggest the aircraft may have collided with a rock during takeoff, but this has not been confirmed. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.
