As per reports, The São Paulo bus drivers’ union has officially confirmed a strike starting at midnight on Wednesday (03 July), following unsuccessful negotiations with bus companies over wage increases and working conditions.
More than 200 workers from the municipal transport system have voted to proceed with the strike, which is set to impact public transportation across the city. The strike will enforce a full fleet operation during peak hours and partial service during off-peak times, as mandated by the Regional Labor Court.
• The union, representing drivers, accountants, and other employees, had been in discussions with employers and public bodies, including the Municipal Audit Court (TCM) and Regional Labor Court (TRT), but no resolution was reached.
• The drivers’ union wanted higher pay and better working conditions but didn’t accept the companies’ offer of a 3.6 per cent salary increase.
