As per reports, Russia declared a unilateral ceasefire in Ukraine from 0000 hours local time (2100 hours UTC, 07 May) on Friday (08 May) to 0000 hours local time (2100 hours UTC) on Saturday (09 May), coinciding with Russia’s Victory Day commemorations in Moscow.
Russia’s Defence Ministry stated that it expected Ukraine to reciprocate and warned of retaliation if commemorative events are disrupted.
• Ukraine separately announced a ceasefire from 0000 hours local time on Wednesday (06 May) (2100 hours UTC, 05 May), while reiterating calls for a broader 30-day truce.
• The announcements follow recent Ukrainian drone activity targeting Moscow and continued Russian strikes in Ukraine, including in Kharkiv region.
