As per reports, the southbound lanes of I-35E in Red Oak were closed on Thursday (16 January) due to a police pursuit that concluded with a crash, followed by a reported officer-involved shooting.
• According to Dallas police sources, the Texas Rangers have assumed responsibility for investigating the officer-involved shooting, as it occurred in Dallas County. The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) reported that the shooting took place on the I-35 southbound service road at the Red Oak Road overpass.
• Red Oak, located approximately 20 miles south of Dallas, experienced significant traffic disruptions following the incident. Three vehicles were involved in a collision at the scene, leading to traffic congestion and the deployment of multiple police units and a fire truck.
• According to the TxDPS, the southbound lanes of I-35 at the Red Oak Road Bridge are expected to remain closed until 1800 hours (local time) on Thursday (16 January).
