As per reports, Singapore is experiencing a surge in dengue infections, with cases in the opening quarter of 2024 more than double that of the same period in 2023.

• Over 5,000 dengue cases were reported, a spike from the 2,360 cases in the same quarter last year, according to the National Environment Agency (NEA) in a news release on Sunday (31 March).
• In the latest update as per the NEA, there are 27 dengue clusters under the “red” alert level as of Friday (28 March), referring to high-risk areas with 10 or more cases.
• There are four dengue virus serotypes circulating in Singapore; dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2) has been predominant since September 2023, with prior periodic dominance of DENV-1 and DENV-3 in 2023.
• Further details on cluster listings can be accessed at https://www.nea.gov.sg/dengue-zika/dengue/dengue-clusters
