As per reports, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, in coordination with 25 district offices, the National Police Agency, and the Korea Expressway Corporation, conducted a large-scale joint enforcement operation targeting vehicles with chronically unpaid automobile taxes, traffic fines, and highway toll fees across tollgates and municipal areas in Seoul on Tuesday (09 June).
Following are the details:
• The enforcement focused on vehicles with 02 or more instances of overdue automobile taxes, speed or traffic signal violation fines totaling 300000 KRW or more, or unpaid highway toll fees occurring 20 or more times.
• A total of 180 personnel and 40 vehicles, including 38 vehicles equipped with automated license plate recognition systems and 01 police patrol car, were deployed to monitor tollgates entering Seoul and conduct mobile enforcement throughout the city.
• Authorities encouraged immediate payment upon detection on site, with enforcement actions for non-compliance including the immediate seizure of license plates, vehicle towing, and public auctions for high-value or chronic cases.
