Multiple events underway/scheduled in Seoul on National Foundation Day on Saturday (03 October)

As per reports, several public gatherings, political rallies and events are scheduled in Seoul on Saturday (03 October) to commemorate National Foundation Day, which are expected to bring traffic congestion and road closures.

Following are the details:

• The Liberty Unification Party, led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church, commenced its rally at 1300 hours (local time) in the Sejong-daero area in front of the Donghwa Duty Free Shop. The estimated attendance is 50,000 people, and attendees are sceduled to march from along Saemunan-ro and Jahamun-ro to Singyo Intersection at 1600 hours (local time) after the rally ends.
• The People Power Party (PPP) is scheduled to hold a ‘National Rally to Denounce the Government’ in the section between City Hall Station and Sungnyemun from 1500-1700 hours (local time). Seoul authorities estimate an expected attendance of 10,000 people, while the PPP has said 20,000 people are expected.
• A large-scale street parade is scheduled to take place from the Cheongdam Intersection to Hakdong Intersection from 1600-1830 hours (local time), during which traffic will be temporarily restricted on the approximately 730-meter section.
• The progressive civic group Candlelight Action is scheduled to hold a rally calling for the impeachment of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1700-1930 hours (local time) with an expected attendance of 5,000 people. They plan to occupy two lanes of Gangnam-daero and march to the area around Gangnam Station after the rally ends.
• Additionally, the Ten Million People Movement Headquarters, the All-Military National Salvation Comrades Association, and Palestine Solidarity are also expected to hold rallies and marches at Sungnyemun, Seoul Station, and Bosingak at various times through the afternoon hours, leading to anticipated traffic congestion on Sejong-daero, and in the Jongno and Eulji-ro areas.
