As per reports, a forest fire broke out on the afternoon of Monday (09 December), in the commune of Catemu, located in the Valparaíso region. Due to the rapid spread of the flames, a red alert has been issued by the Regional Directorate of Senapred Valparaíso.
• Approximately 50 hectares have been consumed by the fire, with five homes damaged.
• The residents of the Quebrachal sector in Santa Rosa, Catemu, have been evacuated, with 25 individuals displaced.
• Fire companies from Llay Llay, San Felipe, Los Andes, Putaendo, and Catemu, along with seven ground brigades from Conaf and three aircraft, are actively working to control the blaze.
• Power towers have been affected, leaving around 100 families without electricity.
• Access to the affected area is restricted, with the Puente Cortado being cut off. Travelers are advised not to enter the area.
