As per reports, authorities have placed the south of the country on continued red alert until Friday (05 January) due to heavy rainfall and floods. Meanwhile, the north of the country is still on orange alert.
• Heavy rainfall on Wednesday (03 January) and overnight through Thursday (04 January) caused water levels along the Alzette and its tributaries to rise briefly on Thursday (04 January) morning.
• In Mersch and Ettelbruck the Alzette will remain around the alert level mark until midday, and levels are not expected to fall below the pre-alert level before Friday evening or even as late as midnight.
• The northern catchment area of the Moselle has also seen widespread heavy rainfall over the past few days but is forecast to remain mostly dry on Friday (05 January).
