As per reports, starting at 0900 hours (local time) on Sunday (10 August), a red air quality alert was issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) for large portions of Minnesota due to smoke from wildfires in Canada.
• This alert, indicating unhealthy air quality for all individuals, is expected to remain in effect until 0900 hours (local time) on Tuesday (12 August).
• The affected areas under the red alert include the Twin Cities metro, Brainerd, Alexandria, Albert Lea, Marshall, Worthington, Rochester, Hinckley, St. Cloud, Winona, Ortonville, Mankato, Bemidji, East Grand Forks, Moorhead, International Falls, Two Harbors, Hibbing, Ely, Duluth, and Roseau
• The alert has also been issued for Tribal Nations of Upper Sioux, Mille Lacs, Prairie Island, Leech Lake, White Earth, Red Lake, Grand Portage, and Fond du Lac.
