The District Collector of Pune has directed all commercial establishments that fall under the jurisdiction of the Maharashtra State Government’s Industries, Energy, and Labour Department to grant employees leave, or a minimum two-hour concession to exercise their voting right on 20 November.

• In an official statement, the District Collector confirmed that the Industries, Energy, and Labour Department has issued a circular mandating a polling day holiday for all individuals engaged in any profession, trade, or industrial sector within polling areas. Link – http://surl.li/uxfzvd
• This applies to all companies, industrial groups, institutions, and establishments under the department.
• No salary deductions will be made for employees taking this leave to vote.
• In cases where a full day’s leave is unfeasible, establishments are permitted to provide at least a two-hour concession to employees for voting, upon obtaining prior approval from the Pune District Election Officer.
• However, establishments must ensure this minimum concession is provided, with penalties for non-compliance.
