As per reports, in 12 eastern, southeastern as well as western provinces by the decision of the governorships, demonstration marches, open and closed meetings, and all kinds of protest activities were banned for four days, i.e until 2359 hours local time on Sunday (19 March).
The public gathering bans have been imposed due to concerns over potential reprisals and other forms of backlash following an allegedly controversial ruling by an Ankara court in a criminal case against several prominent members of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP – Halklarin Demokratik Partisi).
• The provinces in question include: Mardin, Diyarbakır, Siirt, Bitlis, Batman, Ağrı, Bingöl, Adana, Tunceli, Muş, Hakkari, İzmir and Kars.
• The Bitlis Governorship In the statement noted that it decided not to allow entry to the provinces and districts along with the ban on public gatherings.
• Şırnak Governorship announced that other programs, except for events deemed appropriate by the Governorship and district governorship authorities, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, and sports competitions, were banned between Thursday (16 May) to Sunday (19 May).
