As per reports, peasant patrols and municipal authorities from Gran Chimú Province in La Libertad are organizing a provincial strike and mobilization toward Trujillo, scheduled for Tuesday (10 December). The strike is in protest against the lack of infrastructure development, particularly the poor condition of the road network, and the ongoing environmental damage caused by mining activities, which have resulted in pollution of water sources, including the Chicama River.
• The protest aims to demand that regional authorities, including Governor César Acuña Peralta and regional councilors, address these issues by including road improvement initiatives and measures to mitigate mining pollution in their budgets.
• The strike and mobilization are expected to cause significant disruptions in the region, particularly affecting transport routes and public services.
