According to reports, royalist parties, including the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), have organized a mass rally on Sunday afternoon (09 March) to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah as he returns to Kathmandu after a month-long stay in Pokhara.
• In anticipation of the demonstration, security in Kathmandu has been heightened, with personnel placed on high alert across sensitive areas. These include key locations such as the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, Tribhuvan International Airport and Nirmal Niwas at Maharajgunj.
• A procession is to be held that will converge near the entrance of Tribhuvan International Airport to greet the former monarch.
