As per reports, the Gobierno Autónomo Descentralizado Municipal (GADM) de Riobamba has announced permanent modifications to the driving direction of four main roads in the city center starting 12 July.
• The operational changes were confirmed by Councilman Wandenberg Villamarín, president of the GADM Riobamba Mobility Commission.
• The technical initiative was structured based on detailed mobility studies compiled alongside Rutas EP, the Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo, and the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (Espoch).
• Under the new traffic configuration, Calle Guayaquil and Calle Primera Constituyente are scheduled to convert permanently to single unidirectional lanes flowing downhill (bajada).
• Concurrently, Calle 10 de Agosto and Calle José Veloz are scheduled to switch circulation patterns to run exclusively uphill (suba).
• The municipal project also introduces an exclusive public transport corridor along Calle Olmedo to streamline urban bus frequencies.
• The affected areas include Calle Guayaquil, Calle 10 de Agosto, Calle Primera Constituyente, Calle José Veloz, and Calle Olmedo in central Riobamba, Chimborazo Province, Ecuador.
