As per reports, during the “Boiler Room Seoul 2024” music festival at SFactory in Seongdong district, Seoul on Sunday (28 July), overcrowding was reported. Five attendees reported experiencing breathing difficulties and concerns have been raised regarding overselling of tickets by the event organizer. No casualties were reported but in response to the overcrowding, 11 fire engines and 42 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene at 0100 hours on Sunday (28 July).
The event was scheduled from 2100-0400 hours, however, at around midnight the venue for a performance on the third floor of the concert hall exceeded its capacity of 1,000 people and reports of overcrowding were made. Further, artists have raised concerns about the structural integrity of the venue stating that it could have collapsed under the weight of an overcrowded audience. Event organizers have announced that they will issue a full refund to all ticket holders.
