As per reports, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Tuesday (25 June) issued heat alerts in 14 counties and cities and warned of 38 degrees Celsius highs in parts of the south.

• The CWA issued a red heat alert for Yunlin County for a high of 38 degrees Celsius for a third consecutive day. It issued an orange heat warning for Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Taichung, Changhua County, Nantou County, Chiayi, Chiayi County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung County, and Hualien County.
• The CWA predicted Pingtung County would reach a 38 degrees Celsius high, while other orange alert areas would see 36 degrees Celsius highs for the third consecutive day.
• The weather bureau said the influence of a Pacific high-pressure system has strengthened. Before noon, most areas will see partly cloudy to sunny skies, with only sporadic showers in Hualien County, Taitung County, the Hengchun Peninsula, and the south in the early morning.
• In the afternoon, localized thunderstorms could occur in the west, eastern mountains, and central and northern Taiwan. Central and northern area thunderstorms could continue into the evening.
