As per reports, officials confirmed on Wednesday (04 June) that farmers in Novo Cabo Delgado, approximately 50 km from Macomia, abandoned agricultural fields following suspected terrorist movement along the Messalo River on Sunday (01 June).

Similar concerns have been reported in nearby villages of Chitoio and Litandacua, with authorities investigating but yet to confirm insurgent presence.
