As per reports, Newton Public Schools are scheduled to remain closed for a seventh straight school day on Monday (29 January) after contract proposals between the School Committee and Newton Teachers Association (NTA) failed to materialise.
• The situation involves legal aspects, with the strike being deemed illegal under Massachusetts law, resulting in fines.
• While fines were temporarily halted over Saturday and Sunday (27 and 28 January) to encourage negotiations, USD 50,000 was to be imposed in fine if the strike was not called off by a specified time on Sunday (28 January).
