As per reports, on Tuesday (01 April), a nationwide strike is scheduled involving various industry professionals across the social, medical, and educational sectors. The strike is driven by demands for improved working conditions and wage increases, with large-scale demonstrations set to occur in over 100 cities, including significant disruptions expected in Paris.
• The trade unions representing workers in the health and social cohesion sectors are calling on employees to unite and participate in the demonstration to address long-standing issues related to working conditions and compensation.
• Demonstrations are planned in over 100 cities across France. The main gathering in Paris will occur at 1400 hours (local time) on Tuesday (01 April) in front of the Ministry of Solidarity on Avenue Duquesne, followed by a march to Place Denfert-Rochereau in the southern part of the city.
• The unions, including Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail (CFDT) Santé Sociaux, Confédération Française de l’Encadrement – Confédération Générale des Cadres (CFE-CGC) Santé Social, Confédération Française des Travailleurs Chrétiens (CFTC) Santé Sociaux, Confédération Générale du Travail (CGT) Santé et Action Sociale, Force Ouvrière (FO) Action Sociale et Santé, and Solidaires Unitaires Démocratiques (SUD) Santé Sociaux, are protesting cuts in funding for healthcare and social services as well as blocked salary negotiations in collective agreements.
• Their demands include the creation of necessary positions in these sectors and a general salary increase to account for the loss of purchasing power over the past 30 years.
• Due to a separate strike call by the CFDT, CGT, FO, SNJ, SUD, and UNSA unions at Radio France, there will be significant disruptions to radio broadcasts on Tuesday (01 April). The strike is in response to proposed changes to the Public Broadcasting Company structure, including the creation of a holding company.
