The National Farmers Federation (NFF) has called for National Farmer Rally to be held at Federation Mall, opposite Parliament House, in Canberra around 1100 hours on Tuesday (10 September), to protest a series of anti-farming policies set for the industry in recent times. Labor and Coalition politicians have been invited to speak at the event, and Nationals MPs have announced their support.
• The event includes:
– A truck rally departing from Goulburn at 0630 hours and Yass at 0700 hours, converging in Canberra and passing Parliament House.
– A rally on the lawn outside Parliament House featuring speeches and entertainment from 1100 to 1300 hours.
• Shuttle buses will operate from EPIC, Old Wells Station Road, Mitchell ACT, to Federation Mall from 0900 to 1600 hours.
• In light of the protest, ACT Policing has issued an advisory, noting that the roads expected to be affected include:
– Northbourne Avenue
– Cooyong and Coranderrk Streets in the City
– Parkes Way
– Monaro Highway and Hindmarsh Drive (near Fyshwick)
– Canberra Avenue
– State Circle
