According to latest reports, following are the updates on the conflict in Myanmar as of Friday (12 January).

• Reportedly, the junta has lost control of 16 towns in northern Shan State and 14 in Kachin, Karenni and Chin states and Sagaing Region since late October 2023.
• Since the beginning of the resistance, Sagaing Region has reported the most deaths after 32 civilians were killed and 50 were injured. Rakhine State has reported the second-most deaths with eight civilians killed and 37 wounded by regime shelling, airstrikes and drone attacks.
• The Myanmar junta has reportedly lost nearly 50 junta troops and several bases in the last three days as People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) stepped up attacks on regime targets across the country.
• Clashes have been reported in Rakhine and Shan states and Mandalay, Sagaing and Bago regions, since 09 January.
