As per reports, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake has been reported in Taiwan’s Hualien City on Tuesday (23 April). According to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit at a depth of 11 kilometers about 28 kilometers south-southeast of Hualien City and 108 kilometers east-southeast of Taichung at approximately 0226 hours local time.
Meanwhile, another one of 6.0-magnitude registered 13 kilometers south-southwest of Hualien City was recorded. These earthquakes have been deemed as aftershocks of the 03 April earthquake.
• It occurred first in Hualien County’s Shoufeng Township 26.8 kilometers south-southwest of Hualien County Hall at a depth of 10 km. The earthquake’s intensity was highest in Hualien and Nantou Counties, where it measured a four on Taiwan’s seven-tier intensity scale, but it was felt across much of Taiwan.
• The fire department in Hualien stated early on Tuesday that a hotel which had already been damaged on 03 April and was no longer in operation was now slightly leaning on its side. However, there were no reports of any casualties.
