As per reports, more than 12 earthquakes were recorded in the Valparaíso Region on Sunday (16 August), mainly around the communes of Quintero and Valparaíso. Eight events were referenced to Quintero and four to Valparaíso.

The first reported event occurred at 1155 hours (local time), with a magnitude of 3.3 and an epicentre 32 km northwest of Valparaíso. A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded at 1232 hours (local time), with an epicentre 36 km southeast of Quintero. The latest reported event occurred at 1450 hours (local time), with a magnitude of 2.5.
