Local group call for shutdown in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts on Wednesday (12 February)

According to reports, the Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) has called for a mass public rally and total shutdown in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, on Wednesday (12 February), from 0600 hours till 1800 hours, to protest against the construction of border fencing and the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmar border by the Government of India.

Planned rallies will reportedly take place at the Chandel District Headquarters with the total shutdown extending throughout the entire Naga areas of 41-Chandel and 42-Tengnoupal.
