As per reports, in view of the by-election to the Legislative Council from the Bengaluru Teachers’ constituency on Friday (16 February), authorities have banned liquor for four days starting from 1700 hours on Wednesday (14 February), till 0600 hours on Sunday (17 February). However, the Karnataka High Court, in response to a petition from the Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels’ Association and others, has issued an interim order partially easing the liquor ban for the by-election.
The ban will now only be in effect from 0600 hours to midnight on the days of voting (16 February) and counting (20 February). It applies to the sale, distribution, and serving of liquor in shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants in Bengaluru Urban district and Bengaluru city.
