As per reports, the bridge over the Lielupe River on the Liepāja Highway (A9) is scheduled to remain closed to traffic from 1950 hours local time (1650 hours UTC) on Monday (05 October) until 0550 hours local time (0250 hours UTC) on Tuesday (06 October) to facilitate essential repair works.
• Motorists may use alternative routes via the Ventspils Highway (A10) and Kalnciems-Kūdra Road (P101), or travel through Jelgava using the Jelgava-Kalnciems Road (P99), the Jelgava bypass and the Jelgava Highway (A8).
• The closure is required to repair corrosion-related damage affecting the load-bearing capacity of the bridge and strengthen damaged structures with new steel elements.
• Additional resurfacing works are also underway on the Liepāja Highway section between the Grandupe Bridge and the junction with the P98 road.
