As per reports, Estonia is expected to extend the Estonian Police rotation missions (ESTPOL) police mission in Latvia until 25 October, with the extension covering another four-week rotation.
• The extension has been attributed to continued migration pressure along the Latvia-Belarus border. Estonia’s Interior Ministry and Police and Border Guard Board decided to maintain the deployment after the current rotation was due to end this week.
• The ESTPOL11 mission, which began in mid-June, involves approximately ten Estonian police officers deployed on a rotational basis. Estonia also provides sniffer dogs, drones and other specialized equipment.
• Estonia reportedly intends to provide additional personnel in subsequent rotations later in 2026, indicating that cross-border migration management and border-security support are expected to remain ongoing.
