As per reports, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has announced a nationwide strike in Pakistan on Saturday (19 July) to protest against Section 37AA of the Income Tax Ordinance, punitive taxes on bank transactions and Punjab’s proposed labour policy which is perceived as “hostile” to businesses.

• The Karachi Chamber of Commerce as well as other chambers have extended full ssupport to LCCI.
• The LCCI also condemns the extraordinary powers granted to Federal Board of Revenue officials, unjust treatment of the business community and execution of policy decisions without consulting the business community.
