According to reports, on Monday (09 September), a landslide at Mankutiya, along the five-kilometer stretch between Sonprayag and Gaurikund on the Kedarnath highway, resulted in the deaths of five people.
• A joint rescue operation was launched by the police, administration, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). However, due to adverse weather conditions and continuous debris falling, rescue efforts were severely hampered overnight.
• On Tuesday morning (10 September), when weather conditions improved and the debris ceased falling, rescue teams resumed their operations.
• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed his condolences on social media. In his statement, he confirmed that the local administration and rescue teams are actively working to assist those affected. He also mentioned his ongoing communication with officials to monitor the rescue operations.
