As per reports, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) warned the government that participants of the sit-in at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi would march on Islamabad if their demands were not met. While the JI continues its protest against rising inflation and high electricity bills, the government has initiated formal communication for negotiations.
The JI chief announced that they would hold a public rally at Murree Road in Rawalpindi followed by a women’s gathering on Sunday (28 July).
• A three-member delegation, including Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Energy Awais Leghari, and MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, met with the JI leadership on Saturday night (27 July).
• However, the top JI leader declined the request, stating that the demonstration would continue until all demands were met.
