As per reports, a multiday severe weather event is forecast to impact the Midwest, South, and East Coast beginning from Saturday (29 March) till Monday (31 March).
• The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) warns of a substantial severe-weather outbreak, with threats including strong tornadoes (EF2 or higher), damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall and localized flooding.
• Severe storms will develop in the Plains, with large hail and strong wind gusts expected from Oklahoma City to Kansas City. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Severe storms may also impact the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex with very large hail on Saturday (29 March).
• Widespread severe storms will move into the Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee River Valleys, impacting areas from eastern Texas to the southern Great Lakes on Sunday (30 March). Cities at high risk include St. Louis, Indianapolis, Little Rock, Louisville, Memphis, and Nashville. Nighttime tornadoes are a concern.
• The system moves east, impacting the East Coast from Upstate New York to Tallahassee, Florida, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Washington DC, Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Jacksonville may experience damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes on Monday (31 March).
