As per reports, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential hail are anticipated in various regions of Mexico from Monday (05 August), due to the Mexican monsoon. The Mexican monsoon will impact Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero, with wind gusts of 40 to 60 kilometres per hour and waves of one to two meters on the coasts.
• A low-pressure zone south of Colima and Michoacán has a 90 percent chance of cyclonic development within the next 48 hours, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
• A low-pressure channel over southeastern Mexico and the Yucatán Peninsula, combined with moisture from the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean Sea, will bring very heavy rainfall to Oaxaca and Chiapas, and heavy rainfall to Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
• The Mexican monsoon, along with atmospheric instability, will cause heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible hail in Sonora, Sinaloa, and Durango, with showers and wind gusts of 50 to 70 kilometres per hour in Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Chihuahua.
• A low-pressure channel over central Mexico, combined with moisture from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, will lead to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential hail in Coahuila, State of Mexico, Morelos, and Puebla, with rainfall in Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, and Mexico City.
• Isolated rainfall is expected in Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, and Querétaro.
