The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued weather warnings for extremely heavy rainfall and strong wind advisory on Thursday (12 June).
• A yellow strong wind advisory is in effect from late the afternoon of Thursday (12 June) through the night of Friday (13 June). This includes- New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Taitung County, Hualien County, Yilan County, Penghu County, and Lienchiang County.
• In these areas, sustained wind speeds may reach Level 06 (average wind speed over 10.8 m/s), and gusts may reach Level 08 (over 17.2 m/s).
• In addition to the wind advisory, a Heavy Rain or Extremely Heavy Rain Advisory is also in effect from late the afternoon on Thursday (12 June) till the night hours.
• Areas expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall include Pingtung County, the Hengchun Peninsula, and Yilan County. Heavy rainfall is also forecasted for Hualien County, Taitung County, as well as Lanyu and Ludao Islands.
