As per reports, the Department of Civil Protection forecast heavy rainfall, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms, and strong gusts of wind for the northern and southern parts of Italy through Monday (09 September) including Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily.
• An orange alert has been issued for the entire territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, and in areas of Veneto, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Campania, and Molise on Monday (09 September).
• A yellow alert is in effect for the following areas in the provinces: Abruzzo: Teramo, L’Aquila, Pescara, Chieti; Basilicata: Potenza, Matera; Calabria: Cosenza, Catanzaro, Reggio Calabria, Crotone, Vibo Valentia; Campania: Salerno, Avellino, Benevento; Emilia Romagna: Ferrara, Bologna, Ravenna, Rimini, Forlì-Cesena; Friuli Venezia Giulia: Udine, Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste; Lazio: Rome, Rieti, Viterbo, Frosinone, Latina; Liguria: La Spezia, Genoa, Imperia, Savona; Lombardy: Milan, Sondrio, Bergamo, Como; Marche: Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Macerata, Pesaro and Urbino; Molise: Campobasso; Puglia: Foggia, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Bari, Taranto, Brindisi, Lecce; Sicily: Catania, Messina, Palermo, Trapani, Agrigento, Syracuse, Caltanissetta, Enna, Ragusa; Trentino Alto Adige: Autonomous Province of Trento; Umbria: Perugia, Terni; Veneto: Belluno.
• Heavy rainfall has been reported since Sunday (09 September) night causing significant disruptions. Reports indicate that around a hundred interventions were carried out by firefighters, civil protection, local police, carabinieri, and state police, most of which for trees and dangerous branches, water damage, and landslides.
• Significant flooding was reported on via di Batteria di Porta Frba 34, via Mosca and via Appia Pignatelli. The ramps of Via Laurentina and Via del Tintoretto, towards Via Ardigo’ and Via delle Tre Fontane, are closed due to flooding. Road closures have also been reported between Vicolo della Basilica to Via Appia Antica and Vigna Murata-Fonte Meravigliosa area.
• In Rome, on the SS7 “Appia” the underpass is temporarily closed in both directions, from km 14,000 to km 17,000, in Rome, due to flooding. Flooding also occurred in Anagnina, Nomentana, Cristoforo Colombo and Piazza Sant’Emerenziana.
• The Manzoni and Ponte Lungo stations on the A metro line are closed due to damage from bad weather. On the bus network, line 767 arriving from the Agricoltura terminus has been diverted. It does not pass on a stretch of Viale del Tintoretto, partly cordoned off in the direction from Via Laurentina to Via Ballarin due to flooding. Buses do not stop at the Tintoretto/Ballarin, Tintoretto/del Castagno and Tintoretto/Gozzoli stops.
• There were also major disruptions at the Leonardo da Vinci airport in Fiumicino, where the strong event prevented regular air traffic for several hours. Flights were diverted to Ciampino and other airports in central Italy.
