The India Meteorological Department issued red, orange, and yellow alerts across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday (31 August). Red alerts for extremely heavy rainfall have been issued for NTR District (including Vijayawada), Eluru, East Godavari, West Godavari, Vadapalli, Krishna, Palnadu, and Guntur.

Orange alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued for Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Kakinada, Prakasam, Bapatla, YSR District, Anantapuram, and Kurnool. Yellow alerts are active for all other districts of Andhra Pradesh.

• Water level is expected to rise in rivers flowing through coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, including Godavari and Krishna rivers and their tributaries. As per the Central Water Commission, Nagavali, Vamsadhara, Suvarnamukhi, Champavathi, Gosthani, Sarada, Varaha, Sabari, Tammileru, and Yeleru rivers may see a rise in their water levels.
• The well-marked low-pressure area over Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Andhra Pradesh coast, intensified into a depression on Saturday (31 August) morning.
• A landslide caused by the heavy rainfall in Mogalrajapuram in Vijayawada led to the death of one person and injured four others. A holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Vijayawada on Saturday (31 August) due to heavy rainfall.
