According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast issued at 1300 hours, red, orange, and yellow alerts have been issued for heavy rainfall in Kerala for Saturday (01 June). A red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued in Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode districts while an orange alert for moderate rainfall has been issued in the three districts of Idukki, Palakkad, and Wayanad. Additionally, a yellow alert is active in the rest of the region.
Four people were killed in rain-related casualties in the state on Saturday (01 June). Among them, two were killed by lightning in Thrissur. Heavy rainfall was reported in Thrissur causing flooding in various parts of the city on Saturday (01 June). The areas near North Stand, Swaraj Round, Kokkala, and Punkunnam were most affected.
• As four shutters of Malankara dam were lifted two metres each on Saturday, (01 June) people living on the banks of Muvattupuzha and Thodupuzha rivers have been asked to exercise caution.
• The water levels at Meenachil and Manimala rivers have gone up following the incessant rains on Friday (31 May) night. People along the banks of these rivers are also advised to be careful. Two relief camps were opened at Velliyamattom.
• Strong westerly winds would prevail along the Kerala coast and there is a possibility that the sea will be rough near shore along the coast till 2330 hours on Saturday (01 June).
• In light of heavy rainfall, Idukki District Collector Sheeba George has issued an order banning night travel in the entire district. The Collector has urged the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel at night.
