The Indian Meteorological Department has issued orange alerts for heavy rainfall in Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur on Saturday (01 June). Yellow alerts have been issued for all other districts except Malda and Dakshin Dinajpur.

Southwest monsoon has advanced into the northern parts of West Bengal and is likely to cause thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in the State. The Meteorological department has also warned against landslides in hilly areas, rise in water level in rivers like Teesta, Jaldhaka, Sankosh, and Torsa.
