The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has the following warnings in Kolkata and the North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal:
• On Friday and Saturday (25-26 April), yellow warnings have been issued for excessively hot conditions in Kolkata and North 24 Parganas. Kolkata recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius on Friday (25 April), while North 24 Parganas recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. The temperature as of 1930 is approximately 31 degrees Celsius in Kolkata, and 30 degrees Celsius in North 24 Parganas.
• On Sunday (27 April), the weather is expected to change, with light to moderate rainfall in both districts. Accordingly, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds in Kolkata. Additionally, it has issued an orange alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-60 kilometres per hour in North 24 Parganas.
• For Monday and Tuesday (28-29 April), yellow alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds have been issued in both Kolkata and North 24 Parganas.
