The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall warning for north coastal region of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal areas; and orange alert for very heavy rainfall warning for Villupuram, Chengalpattu & Kancheepuram districts until 0830 hours of Monday (08 January). Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecasted for Chennai until 0830 hours of Monday (08 January).
