The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday (23 August).

The details are as follows:

• Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall have been issued in Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur. Yellow alerts for heavy rainfall have been issued in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan, and Shimla. The rest of the districts are under no active alert.
• Over 339 roads, including National Highway One and National Highway 305 (Aut to Sainj), have been closed in Himachal Pradesh.
• Out of the 339 roads closed, 162 are in the Mandi district and 106 are in the adjoining Kullu district.
