As per reports, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chennai and Mumbai airports received a bomb threat on Friday (26 April) after an email was received by the Kolkata Airport alleging that bombs have been placed at multiple locations across the airport, and in other three airports, scheduled to blast at 1255 hours. This resulted in all airports to increase their security arrangements.
The three airports also reportedly received threat emails, while the Mumbai airport received a threat call. The person behind the mail stated that the threat had been made by those involved in the Bengaluru blast at the Rameshwaram Cafe. Additional checking led the Chennai Airport to advise domestic passengers to arrive 1.5 hours prior to their departure while advising international passengers to arrive three hours prior to their departure. After an increase in surveillance and checking of all airports, the threat was declared a hoax.
