As per reports, on Monday (02 December) workers at Heineken breweries in Zoetermeer and Den Bosch, Netherlands, began a three-day strike as part of an escalating dispute over pay and working conditions.
• The strike was called after negotiations for a new labour agreement broke down in October due to what unions CNV (Christelijk Nationaal Vakverbond) and FNV (Federatie Nederlandse Vakbeweging) described as Heineken’s rigid and passive stance. The unions have demanded a five percent pay increase and improved working and internship conditions.
• Union representatives have accused Heineken of attempting to undermine the strike through information sessions and visits to strike locations. Despite these actions, the unions remain firm in their demands and have vowed to continue the strike until a new agreement is reached.
